Welcome to Classic Cinema and TV fans, Jason here with you once again on another Classic Cinema Plus and today we're talking about a brand new release from the good folks at Film Chess Media Group. If you're a fan of physical media and love these first look videos then be sure to like, share, and subscribe, and let's jump into this. So today we're talking about this brand new release from Film Chess Media Group, and it stars the great Boris Karloff. We're talking about the complete series of Colonel March of Scotland Yard. Really interesting little series. um love it oh i just i i think it's so cool um for me um i love the um the investigations of like uh the strange and the weird uh i've always been a big huge fan of the x-files um love that show molder and scully uh trying to figure out um you know the x-files these weird cases well long before there was the X-Files, there was Colonel March. Colonel March is Boris Karloff, and Boris Karloff is the one-eyed detective of British intelligence, and he's given these cases that are strange and weird and off the wall, and people just, you know, they just figure, British intelligence figures it's too off the wall, so they send them over to Colonel March, and Colonel March solves the cases. You know, it's really, really an interesting show. And I've really been enjoying it, seeing these shows and seeing how cool they are. You know, for me, Boris Karloff will always be the Frankenstein monster. I know that he did so much more than that. But to me, I think that where he shined the greatest was he showed such compassion such empathy such emotion even through all that makeup I mean it is so never saying a word Watching Boris Karloff as the Frankenstein monster, reaching up and trying to grab the light. Wow. Amazing. He's just such a great actor. Loved him in his vocal presentation in How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Oh, love him in the terror and a lot of the old Dark House and all these different period pieces. He was just amazing. He also was in The Veil and Thriller TV series. But here he is just a little bit different from all the other things. Here he is the detective basically trying to figure out these strange cases. And such a great series. Only lasted 26 episodes, sadly. But such a great, awesome series. filled with awesome stuff. Film Chess Media Group have released this, and here's your slipcover, and then your DVD release, and it is all 26 episodes are found on three DVDs. Okay, pretty awesome. Quality of these episodes are amazing. When you really think that this series is 70 years old. I mean, these episodes look amazing. There is little specs and little lines, but nothing major. I mean, these episodes look amazing. And the audio quality is pretty crisp and clean. You don't have a lot of that hiss and the pop that you'll find with these old releases from like the 50s So when you think that this show debuted in 1954 and here we are as we recording this in 2024 I mean that 70 years old I mean when most of us get 70 years old we won look as good as these episodes do I mean, let's be honest. I mean, these episodes look really amazing. I'm really impressed with how good they look. Also included in this series, we get the original trailer of the series as well as the photo gallery in this. Then I'm going to show you something that I really thought was really cool in this little set here. You get a booklet filled with all the episode synopsises. Every single episode is given here as an episode to tell you what it's about so that you know, but there's something very interesting also in this. Each and every episode synopsis, every single one of them has a piece of trivia. That is so cool. I'm so impressed with that. I think that is so cool. I'm not going to tell you all of them. You'll have to buy the set to get that, but I will tell you one of them, and it's pretty cool. The very first episode is called The Sorcerer, and the trivia is this. Composer Philip Green created over 150 scores throughout his film career, including Sergeant Cork of 1963, Two Left Feet of 1965, and in addition, his pieces were used in Night of the Living Dead in 1968, and The Ren and Stimpy Show, one of my favorites, and also Spongebob Squarepants. So there you go. That is pretty cool. But every single episode has a piece of trivia. I think that just takes this release to a whole different level. I love trivia. I'm a trivia nut. I love it. I love having these facts in my mind when people say something about a film or a TV show or something, I can rattle stuff off. Well did you know I even use did you know facts on my radio show that we do every week So yeah that pretty cool So having a lot of these facts are really, really awesome. I just think it's so cool. Film Chess Media Group really has done an amazing job with this collection here, with this complete series of Colonel March of Scotland. Yard. As a huge fan of Boris Karloff and Boris Karloff TV shows, I love The Veil. I love the thriller series. And now to own the Colonel March of Scotland Yard, amazing. So cool.
