Greetings, Classic Cinema TV fans. This is Jason Lockhart, Pastor Jay here with you once again on another retro drive-in podcast. We are in the full swing of the holiday season. And, yeah, whether you celebrate Christmas or Kwanzaa or Hanukkah or Merry whatever, you know, we want to wish you a blessed holiday season. May you have the best one ever. We here at Classic Cinema Plus love to look back at some of the great shows and movies during the holiday season. And one of my favorite things to do is to check out the classic shows that are kind of superhero. And, you know, we have, there's so many really, really cool ones. But we picked out three that are, I think, my favorite. That's maybe pushing it, but three that I really, really enjoy a lot. So we broke them out here, and we're going to kind of tell you a little bit about them today here on the Retro Drive-In Podcast. So back in the day, Dean Cain starred as Superman in the amazing TV series Lois and Clark. And in season two, there was a really, really cool episode of Lois and Clark called Season's Greetings. Not greetings, but Season's Greetings, as in greed. But it's a pretty cool episode. I think what really makes this episode so cool for me is the fact that we get two amazing guest stars in this episode. We get Isabel Sanford and Sherman Hemsley. Pretty fancy monica there. Okay. Now, for those of you that are classic TV fans, you know who those are. Those of you that maybe are not classic TV fans, you may not know who those are, these two actors. But it's really interesting. They played Louise and George Jefferson in The Jeffersons. Oh, so cool to see these two together. In this episode, he plays George, or George, Sherman Hemsley plays a toy maker that has become disgruntled by the greed and how that kids are just not happy with nothing. And so he decides to create this space rat that he does that when you squeeze it it sprays out this mist And it a greed mist if you will that makes everyone just want everything And his idea is to destroy Christmas by doing this. It's really an interesting episode as we see Lois reverting back to childhood, being greedy, and Jimmy Olsen and even Perry White and even a little bit on Superman's part, Clark Kent. It's really, really a fun episode, but it always comes forth at the end to be so heartwarming. And that's why I think the Lois and Clark episode, Seasons Greetings, is one of my favorites. So, yeah, I like that one. So that's one of my favorites there. I like it. I like it. I have to have an animated version on this list. One of my favorites, of course, one of my favorite animated superhero shows of all time has to be Batman the Animated Series. I loved Batman the Animated Series. Many of you know where we're going with this already. In this collection here, on season one of this collection, episode two, there is an episode called Christmas with the Joker. Joker escapes Arkham and goes on a tirade and kidnaps a bunch of people and decides, hey, we're going to destroy Christmas. It's up to Batman and Robin to save everyone and save Christmas. and in the end it's all about how wonderful of a life it is and how Dick Grayson wants Bruce Wayne to watch It's a Wonderful Life with him and I love the thing when at the end you know what, it is a wonderful life and Bruce Wayne says it has its times it's just a fun little episode Definitely one of my favorites, and I definitely suggest checking out Christmas with a Joker if you haven't. And definitely, if you've never seen Batman the Animated Series, you need to check this out. One of the best series of all time for animated episodes, definitely. Well, I suppose you're right in a way, Walt. Sure, I'm right. All right, and then finally, one of my favorites, my absolute favorite superhero shows of all time. I don't know why, but I just fell in love with it so many, many years ago, and it became one of my favorites. I didn't watch it when it first came out. It was one Saturday. They were just having a marathon of this show and I didn have nothing to do so I just laid on the couch and started watching it I became absolutely hooked on this show at that point And it was about in its third season when I first started watching it right And then I was hooked thereafter, watching every single episode, every single week. And I'm talking about Smallville. I know, some people would sit there and say, Smallville, come on. Oh, that's bad. No, Smallville actually is a very, very good series. It really is. But in season five, we get an episode that is so amazing. It's like, it's just crazy how good it is. Um, it's a Christmas episode and it is entitled, and we're going to show it to you here. It's entitled Lexmas. Okay. And it's a Christmas episode. Uh, here we see, uh, Lex's mom, um, appearing to Lex after he was shot and, uh, shows Lex a life that he could have if he makes the right choices. and he sees a wonderful life that he could have if he just makes the right choices. But the problem is at the very end of this vision that she shows him, this dream that she shows him of the life that he could have, he loses his wife and all and he has to make that choice. Is it that you give up the money for happiness or do you try to secure life by getting all the money and all the power? It is probably one of the best episodes of Smallville. It really is. I literally watch this episode every single solitary holiday season. That is how much I love it. I watch it every single year, as well as all of these. I watch these every single year. These are my three favorite. And so, yeah, I mean, but I'm telling you, that's why I left Smallville for last Lexmas, because it literally is probably my absolute favorite episode of the holiday season. I love to watch this. I could watch this three or four times during the course of the holiday season. Of course, I don't do that because I got so many things I like to watch. But it is that good. I could watch it over and over and over and never get tired of it during the holiday season. I could watch it three, four, five times and never get tired of it. But it is so, so good. Such a great series. Smallville was just amazing and definitely, definitely such a great superhero series. So, yeah. What is your favorite superhero series that has a Christmas episode?
