Pastor Jay discusses the Blondie movie collection, a lunchbox style collection of 10 films.
The collection includes Blondie, Blondie meets the boss, and other films from the original series.
The movie series was transitioned into a TV series in 1957, starring Arthur Lake as Dagwood and Pamela Britton as Blondie.
The TV series was re-released on DVD and is filled with good fun and is definitely worthwhile checking out.
Greetings Classic Cinema and TV Fans, this is Pastor Jay here with you on another Flashback Friday. Today we're talking about one of my favorite comedy series of all time. I love this one we're talking about Blondie. Blondie and Dagwood was originally a comic strip that was transferred into movies and television and we're talking about Blondie. This collection here is the Blondie movie collection. This is not probably the best way to collect this but this was so cheap I couldn't pass it up. It's a lunchbox style collection. But anyway, in this you get 10 Blondie and Dagwood films from the original film series. You get Blondie, Blondie meets the boss, Blondie takes a vacation, Blondie brings up Baby, Blondie on a budget, all on the first disc. And the second disc concludes Blondie has servant trouble Blondie plays Cupid Blondie goes Latin Blondie in society And Blondie goes to college. So all these films are in this collection right here. Like I said, not the best way to collect them because it takes up a lot of space. But I couldn't pass it up. I think it was like $5. So, you know, to get 10 films for $5, I mean, yeah, We'll take this. Ten Blondie and Dagwood films are very, very good. Now, the interesting thing about Blondie, the movie series, was in the 50s, they decided to take the movies and change them to the TV series. The movie series starred Arthur Lake as Dagwood and Penny Singleton as Blondie. Then they transitioned into, in 1957, to the TV series. And the TV series, Arthur Lake would come back and play Dagwood, thankfully, but Penny Singleton would not, and thus they would have to recast the part of Blondie. And in the TV series they would cast Pamela Britton instead Now Blondie the TV series was basically not seen for almost 60 years since its original airing. And you know what? You might have gotten them in some reruns here and there, but more or less it was forgotten about. and the good folks at Classic Flicks decided that that's just not right. So they decided to re-release this series and they did just that. They took the original 35mm prints and the originals and remastered them and put them on DVD. And wow, what a collection it is. All 26 episodes. Not a very long series, only lasted one season, but what a series it is. really, really filled with a lot of good fun, and it is really good. Like I said, Pamela Britton becomes Blondie in this series, and Mr. Dithers is recast as well, but we do get the original Eggwood, which is a plus, and this is a really good one. So if you enjoyed the comic strips but you never seen the TV series or the movie series we do highly recommend the Blondie and Dagwood movie series and TV series It is definitely something worthwhile checking out for classic movie fans and classic TV fans And if you're just wanting something fun to watch with the whole family, you can't go wrong with Blondie and Dagwood. So check those out. And I think you'll like them.
