They're creepy, they're kooky, they're altogether ooky. They are the Addams Family. Today on Classic Cinema Magazine's bingeable shows and movies. First off, thank you all for joining us today here on Classic Cinema Magazine. Of course, this is Pastor Jay here with you. And today we're continuing this journey as we are still going through COVID-19 pandemic. pandemic. If you're watching this later on, then hey, maybe we've already defeated that. But we're still in this going on. A lot of our states are opening up around and things are looking a little bit better. People are getting back to work, which is awesome. But we're still trying to stay in, be safe. And for movie fans and TV fans, this is a dream come true because you can just sit back and just watch movies all day long. But for many of us, they're not working. People are not working and it's very difficult. We don't want to be a downer here, so we're not going to talk too much about that. But we're just glad some things are opening up and we're starting to see a little bit more things happening. and so maybe we can get back to life as normal soon. We'll see. But today we want to talk about another series of cool bingeable shows, and this is The Addams Family today. The Addams Family is very, very cool. This is three volumes of The Addams Family. You got volume one, very awesome, as you can see. I like that. This is volume 2 of The Addams Family. Very cool. And then volume 3 of The Addams Family. These were broken up into three volumes while there were only two seasons. Why they went that route? Well, I know why they went that route. More money. But they should have just went season 1, season 2, been done with it. It would have been a lot easier. But, eh. They went volume formats. So anyway, but this is all the volumes of The Addams Family. Very interesting show. If you've never seen The Addams Family, I don't know who in the world wouldn't have ever seen The Addams Family. But anyway, if you've never seen The Addams Family, it's just a family of really creepy, kooky people. And they just do some of the strangest things. They come up with just off-the-wall stuff sometimes. Never could understand. I mean, I guess it's a family. They're family millionaires, I guess, or something, because Gomez has more money than he knows what to do with, and he never goes to work. So it must be a family thing that they got all the money in the world. I don't know. Just a really cool little series, fun series. thing comes out of the box and does his thing really cool grandmama creepy and probably the creepiest one of the whole bunch is fester let's be honest fester is just this creepy dude who didn't love a lurch as well you rang I mean you know I always found it so funny that when somebody came to the door and he would answer the door and he would invite them in and a guy was wearing a hat, he would take his hat and rip it off his head. You know, and crumple it too. It was just a fun show. I really enjoy the Addams Family. Now, maybe some of you have never seen the original Addams Family. We've got something for you in just a little bit. But we want to talk about The Addams Family. This was the original Addams Family, the old black and white shows, and they are just, I still watch these today. I mean, still do, and they are still so hilarious sometimes, some of the stuff that they get into and fester and all. It's just a good show. Nothing really really bad about it No bad language no really really I mean there yeah they they do some weird stuff like uh blowing up trains Not real trains, but model trains and stuff like that. It's, it's kind of strange, but, but really just a fun show. And I, and I loved it. I loved this show. But it was a pretty, even though it lasted only two seasons, it was a really good success. People really loved this show. And Hanna-Barbera, the great Hanna-Barbera that would bring us so many great cartoons, decided to jump in on this. And they released the Addams Family, their version of the Addams Family, with the cartoon, the Addams Family. Very, very cool. I found this one very awesome. It has a lot of the spirit of the Addams Family. Now, it's interesting to note that in this cartoon series, we get the original Fester and the original Lurch doing the voices for Lurch and Fester. I found that so, so cool. I love that. Really just an awesome little cartoon series. Um, 16 episodes as all this lasted. It was, it's, you know, does it have the same, um, appeal as the original? No. Of course, nothing is going to have the same appeal of the original. The original is the original. And very rarely does a remake, a reboot, or whatever you want to say, uh, live up to the original. It just doesn't do it. But, um, but this is a cool little series. Warner Archive released this, and I'm really excited to have this in my collection. I love this so very much. We did a whole review of it on ClassicCinemaMagazine.blogspot.com. You can get the, we'll try to put the link down below. But you can get the whole review of this, and this is made on demand, so this will never go out of print. That is so cool. I love the made on demand for that reason. It will never go out of print. And these things right here go out of print, okay? And then if you didn't get it, you're out of luck. Well, see, these don't go out of print. They're made on demand, so that's pretty cool. It's a four-disc set. That's pretty cool. As you can see, well, it's, yeah. See, it's one disc two, disc three, disc four, 16 episodes. Very, very cool. Okay, so you're talking, you're getting a very, very good quality on these releases because they don't squeeze a whole bunch of episodes on here. Now, the only problem that I have with the Addams family, and I wrote this in my review, so the only problem that I have with this is Gomez. The guy that did the voice for Gomez, instead of doing a straight Gomez type of thing, which everybody else did their character, and it was fine. The guy that did Gomez tried to do Gomez like Jackie Gleason's Reginald Van Gleason III. and I don't get that. In other words, instead of speaking like Gomez, he's always, oh, Cadena. You know, he's got that Reginald Van Gleeson thing going on. I never understood that. I don't know who came up with that idea and thought that was good. I don't know. It would have been much better to try to be more straight Gomez, in my opinion. But anyway, that's about the only issue I have with these. The animation is perfect, as is with all Hanna-Barbera stuff. It's just great. I love this series, save for the Gomez treatment of that. I don't know why they went that route. but all right now we're talking the next incarnation of the adams family and that is the adams family that they made in the movies the adams family and adams family values uh we recently just picked this one up This was really really cool Before this whole pandemic started we actually was able to pick this one up Very, very cool. Never had this in our collection, so this was really cool to get this. This is Addams Family, Addams Family Values. now how do I feel about this I enjoy these movies I enjoy them but to me they don't they have the same spirit if you will of the Addams Family but it's never going to be the original that's kind of what it is. When you're brought up on the classics, the TV shows and stuff, when they remake them, it just doesn't kind of hit all the cylinders. It doesn't hit all of the things. See, we had that with Wild Wild West with Will Smith. Even he admitted that that was terrible. Eddie Murphy, I Spy, you know, you can go on and on, all these different films that were remade out of TV shows. They remade 18, which they should never have done, that's just iconic, you should never do that. I'll probably get some people say, hey, I love the 18 movies, and that's fine, I mean, if you did, you did, I mean, that's fine, okay. But to me, if it's the original, don't remake it. That's me. But I like these for what they are, even though they don't have the same spirit, if you will. They're for a different audience. The original Addams Family was very family friendly. Yes, there was a little bit of darkness there in the shows and stuff like that, where this is much more dark, very, very, very much more dark than the original series. Even the cartoon series is nothing like this. This is a much more dark take on the Addams Family. I will just in passing say that we did check out the new Adams Family little animated film I'm trying to be nice here I didn't like it that's me I just don't feel Well, I mean, okay, you go from the original Addams Family. You go to this one, and it steps back from the original Addams Family. Still funny, still good, and I'm glad I have it, but it's just, it steps back from the original. You go to this one, and it completely goes darker than what the original was. And then you go to this new animated one. I just didn't like it. I don't really even know how to even put it into words. I just didn't like it. It just felt off to me. Every bit of it just felt off. It just didn't resonate with me. Now, maybe if it resonates with somebody else, that's great. But it didn't resonate with me. I just didn't find it enjoyable. Okay? Now, if somebody else did, I mean, that's great. But I just did not enjoy that new animated film. That's me. But as you can see, we love the Addams family. I probably will not get the animated film because I just didn't get it. What I mean I didn't get it, I didn't understand it. I just don't understand the appeal. It just didn't resonate with me. Love the original series. I love the Hanna-Barbera. I even enjoy the 90s films, but that new one, it just didn't resonate with me at all I just didn get it So I probably will not be adding that to the collection That just me I just probably won Now I will say this that many people probably have never seen, at least people in this generation, have never seen the original Adams family, right? You've probably never seen the original Adams family. We've got something for you today. If you've never seen the original Adams family, Pluto TV, and I'm not getting paid for this, but I'm just saying this is really cool. Pluto TV is like a, almost like a, a cable, um, network, if you will. It's, it's, it's like, it's like, um, your spectrum, your Cox cable, your DirecTV, your different, it has all kinds of networks, right? And they play different things, movies, TV, all kinds of stuff. But on Pluto TV, they have an Addams Family network. This is cool. They play all the original Addams Family TV shows. Very awesome. And they play them 24 hours a day. So you can click it throughout the day. You can watch an episode as it's going. It is so cool, and it's 100% free. Yes, they're ad-supported, but hey, regular television is ad-supported. It's not that big of a deal. Pluto TV is probably one of my favorite apps on my Roku. But if you've never seen the original Addams Family, I definitely suggest you don't have to go buy them. Just download the Pluto TV app and watch it. watch it 100% free find it on the Pluto TV store or Pluto TV channel and enjoy the Addams Family it is so so cool definitely check out the original Addams Family I think you're going to love it as much as you love any of the other awesome things ok well that's about all the time we have today talking about the Addams Family what one of these do you like?
