church Sunday service. We're so glad that you can be here today with us. I've got a lot to go over. I did some studying recently on the sermon today. Okay, it's going to be called Challenge Sermon. Let's let God help you with life's challenges. and then the other one will be called the world we will challenge our faith. So I'm combining these two together. So let's pray and then we'll begin in our service. Dear Heavenly Father, we just thank you, Lord, for all our listeners, Lord, that's come aboard here, Lord, and watching us, Lord, at brighterdaybaptistchurch.com and on Facebook, on YouTube, and all over the world, Lord. We just ask you, Lord, to be with our listeners at this time. And Lord, let us prepare our hearts and our minds to the word, Lord. We ask you, Lord, that our ears would be open and our minds would be accepted to the word, Lord. We ask you, Lord, if there's anyone that don't know you, that they may come to know you today as their personal Savior, Lord. We ask you, Lord, to bless all our listeners. In Christ's name we pray. Amen. Now, if you have your Bibles today, we're going to be in, okay, very little bit in Joshua, the book of Joshua. And the first part of that, that's going to be Joshua 1, and we're going to read to verse 5, okay? So we'll go ahead and get that started. Let me magnify this. Okay. And it says, after the death of Moses, the servant of the Lord, the Lord said into Joshua, the son of Nun, Moses' assistant, Moses, my servant is dead. Now, therefore, arise, go over the Jordan and all these people into the land that I am giving to them, to the people of Israel. Every place that sole of your foot will tread upon, I have given to you, just as I promised to Moses from the wilderness and this Lebanon as far as the great river of Eryphilates and the land of the Hittites and the great sea toward thee going down to the sun shall be your territory. No man shall be able to stand before you in all the days of your life. Just as I was with Moses, so I will be with you to inherit the land that I swore into thy fathers to go to give them. Only be strong and very courageous. Be careful to do according to all the law that Moses, my servant, commanded you. Do not turn from the right hand or the left that you may have good success. Wherever you go, this book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but ye shall meditate on it day and night. so that ye may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success Have I not commanded you be strong and courageous Do not be afraid and do not be dismayed For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go. Now we have seen this. Joshua is getting ready to go into this land. God is going to be with him through all this. Now we're going to read some out of the commentary so we can break in some important information. It says, Joshua knew the job considered of leading more than two million people into a strange new land and conquering it. What a challenge. Even for a person of Joshua's caliber, every new job is a challenge without God. Experience can be frightening. With God, it can be a greater adventure. Just as God was with Joshua, he is with us as we face our new challenges. We may not conquer nations, but every day we face situations, setbacks, difficulties, people, and temptations. God's promises, however, that he will never abandon us or fail to help us when we ask God to direct us. We can be confident that he will walk with us through all of our life's challenges. Ain't that true? You know, we have a lot of challenges in our lives, but, you know, we do need to ask God to help us in those times of challenges. You know, that is what's so key is asking God for help. So let's continue on and we'll read the next one, which is the word, the world will challenge our faith. So let's go ahead and go into that. And I'll blow this up again. It says, the second apostle, beloved, I wrote, I now write unto you. This is, oh, I'm sorry. This is in 2 Peter 3.18 if you have your Bibles. Okay. The second apostle, beloved, I now write to you. In both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance, remembrance, I'm sorry, may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the day, by the holy prophets and of the commandment of us, the apostles of the Lord and Savior, Knowing this first, that thou shalt come into the last days scoffers, walkers after their own lusts, and saying, Where is the promise of his coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all these things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation. For this they willingly are ignorant of that by the word of God the heavens were of old and the earth standing out of the water and in the water I sorry whereby the world that was being overflowed with water perished but the heavens and the earth which are now by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and petition of ungodly men. But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord a thousand years, and a thousand years is one day. The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness, but in longsuffering to us, usward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night in which the heavens shall pass away with great noise and elements shall melt with feverish heat. The earth also, and all the works that are therein, shall be burned up. Seeing then that all things shall be dissolved, what manner of person ought ye to be in a holy conversation and godliness, looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved and the elements shall melt with feverish heat nevertheless we according to his promise look for a new heavens and the new earth wherein dwelleth righteousness wherefore beloved seeing that ye look for such things be diligent that ye may be found for him in peace without spot and blameless, an account that long-suffering of the Lord is salvation, even as our beloved brother Paul also, according to the wisdom given unto him, hath written to you, as also all his apostles speaking in them, these things in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable rest as they do also the other scriptures unto their own destruction. Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know the things before, beware, lest ye also, being led away with the arrow of the wicked, fall from their own steadfastness. But grow into the knowledge of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, to him be the glory, both now and forever. Amen. Now, here we see the false teaching in the Bible, right? And it says, the world will challenge our faith, right? We see that in this book, there was a challenge because the false doctrine was pulling people away. Let's be people steadfast toward Jesus. Let be steadfast in learning about Jesus When it comes to situations like this about doctrines and different scriptures hey we got one thing that we can go to and that is the Bible That is the Bible Before we listen to anybody, right, let's just stop right there. Say, wait a minute. Let me just see if that's what that really says. Let's see what that really says in the scriptures. But we just thank you so much. let me continue on here. We've got a special, a couple of segments here I want to bring up, and then we'll end here in prayer shortly. Okay, so let's go ahead into the other thing I wanted to bring up. I hope this sermon's been a blessing to you. Look, when it comes to challenges, ask God for help. Right? And when it comes to the world will challenge our faith, where should our faith be? It should be in God and Jesus Christ. Let's end in prayer. Dear Heavenly Father, we just thank you so much, Lord, for your sermon today, Lord. Lord, you'll always be with us, as you did with Joshua, Lord. and as also in Peter when our scriptures and our people challenge us and tell us this ain't so, Lord, let us go to the scriptures. Let us stick to your word, Lord, and don't listen to others change our minds for us. Let us be bound to your word and your mind. In Christ's name we pray. Amen.
